Today, women have equal rights that men have and enjoy all the freedom. They are employed in all the fields including Medicine, Law, Education, Driving, Engineering, Economics etc. In recent times we have seen an increase in the number of women professionals in both public and private organizations. But, the discrimination against women still persists, especially in work places. In general, men get preferential treatment over the women in terms of pay, job responsibilities and carrier growth. This discrimination also exists in sports, educational institutions, non-government and political organizations. Gender discrimination is illegal and several laws are in place to prevent and eliminate discriminatory practices in India. Over the years, several enactments have been passed for the welfare of the working people with special provisions for the women workforce. The employer also has the responsibility of eliminating the gender discrimination in the workplace by creating awareness among the men employees about gender equality. This research paper discusses about the women rights with specific emphasize on work place related gender discrimination.
