Title

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE ON DEEP BEAM

Abstract

High strength concrete is currently widely used in the various important structures like Bridges, Tall structures, Tunnels etc. but high strength concrete require large amount of powder content. Also large amount of industrial waste like fly ash, ggbs, silica fume, marble powder etc. are generated every year which are good pozzolonic materials. Hence this study is conducted to understand the effect of Fly ash and GGBS on the High Strength Concrete Deep Beam. Here, High strength Concrete of M60 grade is prepared with different percentage of fly ash and GGBS like 10%(5-5%),20%(10-10%),30%(15-15%),40%(20-20%), 45%(20-25%), 50%(20-30%) as a replacement of Cement. The fresh properties like Slump flow and Compaction factor and Mechanical properties like Compressive strength, Flexure Strength and Split Tensile Strength of High strength concrete are investigated. Study show the compressive strength of HSC is reduces as the cement content is replaced in the mix as well as split tensile strength and flexure strength are also shows the same trend. Further, Deep Beam experimental study conducted on the high strength concrete Mix of 10%, 20% and 30% replacement of cement by flyash and ggbs (in equal amount). deals with the behaviour and flexure strength of high strength concrete deep beam subjected to central point loading .Concrete deep beams of dimensions (900*500*150) and (900*400*150) mm thickness were tested by applying gradual loading Simply supported conditions were maintained for all concrete deep beams. Experimental inveastigations on the ultimate load and deflection of reinforced concrete deep beams with 60Mpa grade of concrete. Significant reserve strength beyond vertical and diagonal cracking was observed in high strength concrete deep beams.

Key Words

Deep Beam, High strength concrete, Ggbs, Fly ash, Ultimate load , Maximum deflections and Flexure strength.
