WOMEN TRAFFICKING AND PROSTITUTION LAW

Abstract
Trafficking is prohibited in the Constitution of India. As a fundamental right in Article 23 and 24 trafficking in human beings is prohibited as are all forms of forced labor. Despite this prohibition, India is a source destination and transit country for human trafficking primarily for commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor, and with the falling sex ratio, trafficking for marriage is becoming another pull factor for trafficking of women and girls. Unfortunately, even as a law dealing with sexual exploitation it leaves a lot to be desired.
