The liquid crystal system have approach towards physical and chemical properties. Now a days liquid crystal are becoming a choice for the research and development process in the pharmaceutical field. The liquid crystal systems have some advantages such as drug solubilisation level, drug degradation, control drug release, light, thin, sustained and controlled release pharmaceutical properties. The drug delivery to site of target can be achieved by using liquid crystal systems. Depending on the composition of polar lipids and surfactants they exhibit a phase behaviour in aqueous environment. This review will give us information regarding about liquid crystals, their types, phases involved, methods of preparation, evaluation parameters.
