Title

A STUDY OF META-COGNITION AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS IN RELATION TO THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Abstract

Metacognition is the awareness of one’s thinking and the strategies one is using. It enables students to be more mindful of what they are doing, and why, and of how the skills they are learning might be used differently in different situations. The investigator as a part of research study tried to find out the metacognitive awareness among under graduate college students in Birbhum West Bengal. This study also examined the relationship between student’s academic achievement and metacognition. The investigators use a standardized awareness inventory for checking the metacognitive awareness of under graduate college students. The investigators used appropriate statistical techniques for the data collection and analysis of the data. The study result showed that there was a positive correlation between students’ academic achievement and metacognition.
