Abstract
Development banks are those which have been set up mainly to provide infrastructure facilities and other promoting facilities for industrial growth of the country. These banks are those financial institutions that provide funds and financial assistance to new and upcoming business enterprise. Development banks like IDBI, IFCI, ICICI, IIBI provide long term and medium terms funds. And SIDBI provide fund basically for small scale sectors. NABARD is an apex development bank for extending support to rural areas. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the different function, activities and financial resources of different development banks.
