Abstract: - Increasing awareness towards the safety of goods making people aware about the ecological and environmental problems on use of synthetic dyes which release harmful and carcinogenic substances. Natural dyes are eco-friendly and nontoxic but natural dyed clothing cannot be easily available in the market. Taking this into consideration present study deals with the natural dyeing of cotton fabric, with dye extracted from the Annona reticulata linn. leaf. Study focuses on three mineral mordants Alum, tin and ferrous sulphate and four natural mordant banana bark, pomegranate rind, babul bark, lime juice by using three different proportions as 9:1, 7:3 and 5:5. During the dyeing study total 46 shades were obtained which falls in the yellow region when L* a* b* c* h* values were assessed. Wash, perspiration and rubbing fastness was noted good; whereas light fastness showed satisfactory results.
