The plant Costus pictus is popularly known as insulin plant and it has been prescribed for diabetes. The diverged constituents present in the plant are responsible for the multiple potent to treat various diseases. The potential of the medicinal plants is evaluated on the basis of the presence of secondary metabolites by quantitative screening and identification of chemicals. The present study deals with the physical and chemical evaluation of the leaves and rhizomes of C. pictus; additionally, this research is to provide a toxic and trace element constituent of C. pictus which might plays vital role in the treatment of various ailments.
