Abstract

Abstract: A study to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching Program on importance of prone position in newborn admitted in NICU among staff nurses working in S.V.S Hospital, Mahabubnagar, Telangana. Objectives: 1.To assesses the existing knowledge on importance of prone position in newborn admitted in NICU among staff nurses by pretest.2. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on importance of prone position in newborn admitted in NICU among staff nurses by conducting post test. 3. To determine the association between pre and post test knowledge scores on importance of prone position in newborn admitted in NICU among staff nurses with selected demographic variables. The researcher design for the present study is pre-experimental one group pre-test and post –test design. Results: Findings related to knowledge of staff nurses 22 (73.3%) were under below average knowledge level in pretest, where as below average knowledge level in posttest were found nil, 8 (26.7%) were under average knowledge level in pretest, whereas 2 (6.7%) were average knowledge level in posttest, above average knowledge level in pretest were found nil, whereas 28 (93.3%) were under above average knowledge level in posttest. These differences indicated that structured teaching program was highly affected on staff nurses. Hence H1 was accepted. Conclusion: The study has showed that there was an overall improvement in the knowledge of the staff nurses after implementation of structured teaching programme
