The present investigation was carried out for evaluation of the diversity of AM fungal communities associated in rhizosphere soils of Coffee plantations in different seasons of Nilgiri district and to study the percent root colonization, species richness and spore density of AMF from rhizosphere soils of Coffee at different taluks of Nilgiri district. AMF colonization varies with soil properties and season. In the present study, all the plants were found to have AMF association. AMF colonization percentage and spore population was high in summer and least in winter. Most commonly occurred ten AM fungal species representing four genera viz., Acaulospora, Gigaspora, Glomus and Scutellospora were recorded. Glomus species was recorded as dominant root symbionts. Further Acaulospora scrobiculata, Glomus aggregatum, Glomus fasciculatum and Gigaspora margarita showed 100% frequency in all the study areas. Species richness, diversity index and species evenness were also recorded for all study sites.
