The plant Phyllanthus amarus is commonly known as Keezhkainelli and used in various systems of medicines as excellent hepatoprotective agent. This review describes the enhancement of secondary metabolites of Phyllanthus amarus through tissue culture or micro propagation. MS media was supplemented with various enhancing materials such as growth promoters, phytohormones, precursors, abiotic elicitors etc., This study aims to review the studies conducted on various methods of micro propagation of Phyllanthus amarus and enhancing its secondary metabolite contents.
