Title

A Single-Phase Grid Connected Solar PV System Based on 9 Level Inverter Topology with Trinary Sequence DC Input

Abstract

A new single-phase multilevel inverter that uses the trinary sequence for DC source connected with a unique single input multi-output boost converter is proposed in this paper. Trinary sequence provides the maximum output voltage, than any other sequences, with minimum switch count for the proposed asymmetric nine-level MLI. The model can inject the good amount of ac current to the grid with input voltage being lesser than that of the peak voltage of the grid. Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm is used to get the maximum power from PV and filters are used at the output of the inverter for smoothening of the waveform. The paper presents the simulation of the proposed topology and calculation of total harmonic distortion is obtained from a 1.7 kW prototype. MATLAB-SIMULINK based simulation of the system reveal the ability of the system to achieve good conversion efficiency.
