Madhya Pradesh is one of the Empowered Action Group (EAG) states of India and is in a phase of demographic transition. This paper attempts an analysis of the status of women of scheduled tribe (ST) dominated districts in comparison to other districts of the state. Tribal communities are found in various ecological and geo-climatic conditions ranging from plains and forests to hills and inaccessible areas. Tribal groups are at different stages in the field of social, economic, and educational development. While some tribal communities have adopted a mainstream way of life but, at the other end there are certain Scheduled Tribes, 75 in number known as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs),(STATISTICAL PROFILE OF SCHEDULED TRIBES IN INDIA,2013) Education and health facility are an important component in the overall development of individuals, enabling them to greater awareness and better health status and also for a better comprehension of their social, political, and cultural environment and also facilitating in the improvement of their socio-economic conditions.
