Title

A Study on Customer Preference towards Online Shopping in Theni District during the Covid 19 Lockdown

Abstract

Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet using a web browser. Online stores usually enable shoppers to use "search" features to find specific models, brands or items. Online shopping offers lot of benefits for the customers as well as business houses. With the help of online shopping, business houses are capable to get in touch with more customers at limited cost. In reality, online shopping act as a stepping-stone to the concept of global village. In India, consumption habits have undergone a drastic shift which assists customers to save time and energy. Furthermore, owing to unrestricted choice and surplus time, customers without any difficulty look for the preferred things and can effortlessly compare the products/items. During the lockdown period (due to COVID-19)most of the customer prefer to buy the products through online. So many online shops come into existence to meet the requirements of the customer and to meet their economic needs. It is an unquestionable information that all online stores competing with each other to capture the untapped market and try to sell goods and services through online. These online web portals have to grasp the needs and wants of their customers. They have to depend on how well they can put together this method in their business model and to develop their business. In order to sell anything over the internet, they have to take into account what the consumers buy? Why they buy? How they buy? And what products and services they prefer? Hence this study aims to know the customer preference towards online shopping in Theni District with sample respondents of 100 This research also aims to find out the key factors that influence online shopping behaviour of consumers and to identify the determinants of online purchase intention among customers.
