The traditional irrigation system involves most manual labor, intensive tasks, farmers usually work on large portions of land to grow different type of crops. Agriculture depends a lot on the source and supply of water and thus becomes a major issue in places which rely solely on the monsoons as their primary source of water, since the monsoons are not evenly distributed all over the country every year. In such cases, the scheduled watering of the crops can get hampered and that might in turn hamper the quality and quantity of crops produced. To overcome thus problem, an automatic irrigation system using Arduino and monitoring the farm field by using message alert. Depending upon the level of soil moisture content, the system supplies the water to a farm field by sensing the soil moisture when the water level goes down the motor automatically stops, sends the notification of a farm field to the farmers. This helps in irrigating the field even during night time, so does not require the farmer to switch on motor manually. However, in this paper our aim is to propose a low cost, sustainable solution to the problem of water supply in indoor cultivation, farm and agricultural field.
