Title

Optimizing Wall Thickness in Heat Treatment Furnaces with Different Materials: A Case Study

Abstract

This paper addresses the challenge of minimizing heat loss through the walls of a heat treatment furnace by analyzing three materials: chromite, molybdenum, and silica, in terms of their thermal conductivity, wall thickness, and area. These materials are compared to identify the best combination of these mechanical parameters using the Taguchi mathematical model of an L9 orthogonal array with three levels of significance. By determining the optimal interaction between these parameters, we can reduce heat loss by 13% to 30%, compared to what would have been achieved without considering parameter interchange
