The Bodo language is an ancient language. But there was no proper literature, however reach in Khuga Thunlai (Folk literature). But not in written form, it was in oral form until the second decade of the 20th century .At the period of the century, Christian missionaries entered in the Bodo concentrated areas with intent to preach their religion. The Missionaries’ took step on folk literature and brought it in written form .But after independent of India it had been defangs amongst the illiterate Bodos in the society. After the long gaps the written Bodo literature has began from the year of 1919 in the hand of students, which year has been known to be Mile Khuntia or Year mark of the Bodo literature, but properly placed after publishing with printed form of the Bibar magazine in the early phase of 20th century . During the time Bodo literature contemporarily developed by the initiative of the students, literary and social organizations, where the social organizations were strongly taking role to develop the literature through the magazines and journals however the Boro Chatra Sanmilani heartlessly took major role in respect of it .
