Backwater tourism is a distinctive segment of Kerala's tourism industry, with Alappuzha—often referred to as the "Venice of the East"—serving as one of its most prominent destinations. Known for its interconnected canals, tranquil lakes, lush landscapes, and unique houseboat experiences, Alappuzha attracts both domestic and international tourists seeking natural beauty and cultural immersion. As tourism evolves, understanding what aspects most appeal to visitors becomes crucial for sustainable destination planning and improved service delivery. This study aims to identify and assess the key attractions of backwater tourism in Alappuzha and evaluate the level of tourist satisfaction associated with these features. By doing so, the research contributes insights into visitor preferences and areas that require enhancement to boost the overall appeal of the destination.
