Title

TIME MANAGEMENT AMONG WORKING WOMEN AND ITS EFFECT ON FAMILY LIFE: A STUDY OF SELECTED DISTRICTS (SURAT, VALSAD, AND NAVSARI) IN SOUTH GUJARAT

Abstract

In today’s fast-paced world, managing both professional responsibilities and household duties has become increasingly challenging for working women. This study focuses on women residing in the semi-urban districts of Surat, Valsad, and Navsari in South Gujarat-regions often overlooked in mainstream work-life balance research. The aim is to explore how these women divide their time between job and home, assess the impact of their time management on family well-being, and understand the key challenges they face in maintaining balance. Using a descriptive research design, primary data were gathered from 300 respondents through structured questionnaires, while secondary data were drawn from journals, government reports, and scholarly articles. Statistical tools such as frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, normality and reliability testing, Pearson correlation, regression, and ANOVA were employed to analyze the responses. Findings reveal that although most women rely on personal strategies such as prioritizing tasks and waking up early, they face consistent stress, lack of time, and limited family or external support. Flexible work hours, supportive home environments, and better planning were recognized as crucial elements in improving work-life balance. Importantly, there is a strong correlation between time management and family well-being, indicating that when women manage time effectively, their families experience lower stress and improved harmony. This research fills a notable gap by offering region-specific insights into the lives of working women in South Gujarat. It also provides practical suggestions for employers, policymakers, and families to support women in managing their dual roles more efficiently.
