A Critique on Nikolai Gogol’s The Overcoat
Authors
Abstract
This study investigates Gogol’s The Overcoat from various perspectives. The paper explores the origin of the story, its place in Russian literature, and the socio-economic background of the society when it was written. In addition, the paper aims to provide an overview of the style employed by Gogol to write The Overcoat, a psychoanalytic critique of the story, and the realistic and romantic elements used in it.
