Assam is a state with rich cultural heritage. Assamese culture is also a culture of harmony in the group of Indian culture. Folk beliefs are an integral part of assamese culture. Religious beliefs which are traditionally practiced in the assamese society are also a combination of different cultural elements.This folk beliefs are part of the splendid culture and it covers different aspects of Assamese traditional social life. Although various changes have taken place in the society over time ,these folk beliefs have always become an integral part of assamese society. There are different folk beliefs involved in various aspects of assamese society such as agricultural life, ominous, illness etc. In this age of rapid spread of science and technology some folk beliefs are still rampant in the society. This research paper seeks to give a brief description of 'Sitola Puja' or 'Aai Sokam' which deals with the religious beliefs relating to the human body or illness.
