Title

A study on Occupational Stress and Job Satisfaction of IT Employees

Abstract

This paper is a research abstract on Occupational Stress and Job Satisfaction of IT Employees in Kerala, India. Occupational stress refers to the ongoing or progressing stress an employee experiences due to the responsibilities, conditions, environment, or other pressures of the workplace. There are several types of occupational stress, depending on the individual employee, their job role, the company culture, and more. Job satisfaction is a combination of psychological, physiological and environmental circumstances that cause a person truthfully to say I am satisfied with my job. It is seen that employees working in any institution particularly IT Employees are facing high occupational stress and their job satisfaction determines their decision to continue in work or not. As it is a universal problem the investigators selected the title of their study as 'Occupational Stress and Job Satisfaction of IT employees. The Research design used was Descriptive research and the area of the study was linited to Ernakulum district of Kerala, India. IT employees in Kerala was the selected population and Normative survey method adopting stratified random sampling was used for carrying out the study. The major tools used for data collection were Occupational Stress Inventory and Job Satisfaction Survey. Statistical Methods used for analysis were Mean and Standard Deviation, weighted Average Analysis, chi-squre analysis, Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation, t- test and ANOVA. This paper provides a detailed description about the stress faced by IT employees and their levels of job satisfaction.
