Title

Half and tenth value layer of shape memory alloys using gamma ray spectroscopy

Abstract

The linear attenuation coefficient (µ), half value layer (HVL), tenth value layer (TVL), and mean free path () of three shape memory alloys in the energy range 122 keV to 1330 keV were calculated in this research. The fluctuation of acquired values of all parameters largely depends on the photon energy, which reduces or increases owing to chemical composition and density of the sample in the current investigation. The WinXCOM tool was used to investigate CuNi, BiCdPbSn, and CuZnAl samples in depth, and transmission curves with photon energy were plotted with experimental values. Cable sheathing, ammunition, lead wire, pigments, automatic sprinklers, and other technological applications could benefit from the findings of this study.
