Title

A REVIEW AND A CRITICAL INTERPRETATION ON ANIMAL EXPERIMENTAL MODELS TO ANALYSE POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN DISEASE (PCOS)

Abstract

Abstract Background-For the Preclinical studies of PCOS animal’s plays an important role, besides that some other models also been prepared as non-mechanical models. PCOS is most common endocrine disorder in can be seen in reproductive age of women. This multi factorial syndrome is yet not having proper line of treatment. Need of study- Many animal models have been used by researchers to evaluate PCOS. This makes confusion in new researchers to select exact model to study some remaining or new aspects of PCOS, with our without test drug. This article is giving base line bifurcation of animal models used in PCOS. Material and methodology- Various scientific research and review articles with the combination of PCOS and animals are reviewed. Grouped accordingly similar activity and the working mechanism and compiled accordingly. Observation and discussion- PCOS models are mainly divided in five major causative factors. Further these five causative factors are evaluated by some other models like stress model, hormonal model etc. every model is somehow comparable to phenotypes of PCOS, but no one is 100% same. Though everyone has its own limitations and advantages. Conclusion- Considering this fact that it’s difficult to develop a single animal model that mimics all aspects of multidimensional syndrome like PCOS, but, similarity of biological, anatomical, and/or biochemical features of animal model to the human PCOS phenotypes can increase its application.
