: In recent years, Super Resolution using traditional and deep learning methods has evolved greatly for images. The paper is an effort to review and throw light on several of the traditional approaches of Super Resolution and eventually delve into recent advances in the approaches using deep learning. In this survey, super resolution of images is categorised into the following methods: traditional approaches and Deep Learning methods (Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), and Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and their variations/improvements).
