Voting is an important political right of all adult individual citizen of India irrespective of the class, caste, creed, sex etc. It is an integral part of the participatory democracy where governments create and dissolve through this means. The movement to enjoy right to vote throughout the globe later popularizes the concept of universal adult franchise. After a long battle, man acquires the right to vote and woman was out sided from that domain. Women movements of the west for voting were finally approved by few nations of the world and though these giant step democratic institutions became more powerful and accepted. Women were included in the election process since the beginning of electoral politics in India. Tripura, a small state of North- East India is also not an exclusion of it. Since the first assembly elections to till date, women community participate equally with their male counterpart in the electoral process and some time they even cross the percentage of their counterpart. Thus, this paper is intended to find out the pros and corns of voting patterns in the state assembly elections on gender basis and make reasonable suggestions.
