Title

MIGRAINE- THE PERIODIC ATTACKS AND IMPACT OF MEDICATIONS

Abstract

Migraine is a frequent neurological illness characterized by strong, unilateral, throbbing and pulsatile headache episodes lasting 4-72 hours and accompanied by anorexia, nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and/or phonophobia, according to the International Classification of Headache Disorder (ICHD). Migraine is characterized by recurring episodes of headache, most typically unilateral, and in some cases coupled with visual or sensory symptoms, collectively known as an aura, which appears before, but may sometimes occur during, or after, the head pain. Migraine is a repeated episodic pain syndrome that is accompanied by neurological, gastrointestinal, and dysautonomia symptoms. Migraine is a prevalent chronic headache disorder characterized by episodic occurrences. It affects 10-20% of the population during their most productive working years; women are four times as likely than men to be impacted. Migraine is a long-term illness that can leave sufferers severely disabled, limiting their capacity to participate in daily activities such as attending family gatherings and going to work, as well as putting a strain on family members. Treatments for migraine via oral route, nasal route and intra nasal route- Abortive (i.e., to relieve the acute phase) or prophylactic (i.e., to avoid migraine) pharmacologic medications are used to treat migraine (i.e. preventive). There are two types of medications for migraine one is for short duration and another for prevention. There are three pharmacological therapies for migraine like according to its pain type and severity. • Oral medications- Its include tablets like painkiller which can be taken orally. It includes analgesics. • Nasal medications- It includes mostly nasal sprays. • Intra nasal medications- In this research we came to know that intra nasal route is the best for migraine treatment. Emulsions, sprays can be prepared.
