Abstract : Majority of the structures in urban areas comprises of RCC. One of the biggest challenges faced in RCC structures is the higher dead weight of the concrete restrict the span length, to counter this more columns can be added but this is not feasible for structures requiring more usable area, like public halls or parking lots. This led to the development of Ribbed or Waffle Slabs. For analysis purpose, a G+2 parking lot is modelled in computer program STAAD Pro and the results obtained from the analysis are compared. A multi storey parking lot using Waffle slab is modelled using the same material and under the same loading conditions. Parameters like punching shear resistance, maximum bending and maximum deflection are studied. Quantity of steel and concrete for Waffle Slab is found out.
