Users' software piracy is often regarded to affect both software companies (due to lower profitability) and purchasing customers (through higher prices). As a result, excellent and low-cost technical prevention is expected to benefit both businesses and consumers. According to the model established here, in some cases, even when there is major piracy, not protecting can be the best policy, increasing firm profits while lowering selling costs. The importance of combining the presence of good network security with the fact that piracy increases the overall number of programme users is crucial to the analysis. Consumers have an incentive to save money on post-purchase learning and customization fees, therefore network security exists.
