EFFECT OF BAKUCHI RASAYANA IN SHWITRA W.S.R. TO VITILIGO- A SINGLE CASE STUDY
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Back ground: Vitiligo is a depigmented or hypopigmented patch that result from absence or reduction of melanocytes mostly due to unknown cause. In Ayurveda there is a direct reference of the disease resembling to Vitiligo, is Shwitra. Twachaswetata(Whitish discolouration of skin ) and Aparisraavi( Without any secretion ) both are considered as cardinal symptoms of Shwitra. In Kilasa (Type of shwitra) variety of Shwitra, medodhathugatadosha (Dosha situated in fat tissues) are responsible for production of Shwetavarna (Whitish discolouration) patches. The case presented here is managed by vyadhihararasayana (disease specific rejuvenation) like Bakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia) medicines which rectified the pathology of Shwitra roga and relieved the symptoms.
