Title

“A STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTIONAL PROGRAMME ON PREVENTIVE MANAGEMENT OF NEEDLE STICK INJURY AMONG B.Sc. NURSING I YEAR STUDENTS IN SELECTED NURSING COLLEGES OF HUBLI-DHARWAD”.

Abstract

Background of the study: Health-care professionals are the most negligent as far as their own health is concerned. They are exposed to high risk of various infections and also become victims of lifestyle diseases due to their stressful schedules and a high degree of professional responsibility This Pre- Experimental study aimed to asses the effectiveness of educational interventional program on knowledge regarding preventive management of needle stick injury among B.Sc Nursing I year students in selected Nursing colleges of Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka. Aims: Assess the pre-interventional level of Knowledge and Prevention of Needle stick injury among B.Sc.Nursing I year students, evaluate the effectiveness of Educational Interventional program. Conceptual Frame work Von Ludwing Bertalanffy General system Model. Methodology A Quantitative approach with one group pretest-post test design was adopted for the study. The samples from the selected Nursing colleges were selected using non probability purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 50 B.Sc Nursing I year students. The tools used for data collection was self administered knowledge questionnaire and educational interventional program was developed. The data analysis was done by using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Results After administrating the Educational Intervention (One to One Teaching) the calculated ‘t’ value was (26.89 and 43.45) Knowledge and Practice. Interpretation & Conclusion: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Educational Intervention; the calculated ‘t’ value was significantly higher than the table value at 0.005 level. Hence, Educational Intervention (One to One Teaching) is pivotal, student nurses play are more prone to expose towards needle stick injury preventive management of needle stick injury is effective in managing the occupation injury.
