Generally Nazla wa Zukaam are considered same and used synonymously by most of the people but Unani System of Medicine holds the opinion that both terms are different. In Unani System of Medicine, Zukaam is hot inflammation of mucous membrane of the nose and if it spreads to the throat it is called Nazla. Unani system of Medicine has a distinguishing approach while describing the ailments Nazla wa Zukaam. In Unani literatures, Nazla has been broadly classified into Nazla Haar,Nazla Barid and Nazla Wabaiya. Unani physicians have elaborately discussed these classifications and have stressed that causes of these types of Nazla differ from each other and hence require different approach of prevention and management. The concept of Nazla wa Zukaam in Unani Medicine makes it special and different from other System of Medicine.
