Title

Vanishing Architecture Of Shekhawati Region

Abstract

The history always witnesses the changing pattern of business hubs and trade routes. And thus the steady relocation of people to mega cities for business and trade leaves the old cities, towns and its built environment into pathetic and decaying conditions. The mounting need of the modern buildings has its huge impact on Heritage Architecture of any region which starts vanishing and putrefying due to the ignorance towards Tradition, culture and history of that region. The age old, rich and magnificent Architecture of Shekhawati region in North east of Rajasthan, is witnessing the same punitive control of time and neglect towards heritage. Rajasthan is well acclaimed for its vibrant culture, heritage, and traditions and is admired not only in India but throughout the word, which put this state in top few tourist destinations by Indian and international tourists, mainly because of tits heritage built environment, buildings and forts. Though being in-between the two major tourist destinations of Rajasthan – Jaipur and Jaisalmer, Shekhawati region with age old numerous heritage buildings are in danger of extinction. This research is intended to highlight the issues of neglect, to find out solutions and to bring this region into limelight through systematic approach- all to save the Architecture of Shekhawati region.
