An off-road vehicle (ATV) is considered to be a type of vehicle which is capable of driving on any terrain. Data acquisition is the process of sampling signals that measure real world physical conditions and converting the resulting samples into digital numeric values that can be manipulated by a computer. This system is used to acquire data from sensors and other sources under computer control and bring the data from different channels together to store and manipulate it. A low-cost data acquisition system, for use in sensing applications, is presented here. The system uses Arduino Mega board to implement data acquisition strategy and to interface analog sensor data from signal processing unit, to PC for further processing. Our system aims to measure RPM of wheels and CVT, acceleration of vehicle and temperature of brake discs.
