Title

Characterization and analysis of Epoxy-Graphene composites

Abstract

Nancomposites are high performance materials which show unusual properties and unique design combinations. Comparatively, it has better properties with respect to engineering materials with same applications. The influence of Glass, Basalt fiber and Graphene weight content in epoxy matrix composite are experimented and observed the merged effect on the mechanical performance of nanocomposite. Hand Lay-up technique is used to fabricate the composite. Glass Basalt fibre reinforced polymer composite with epoxy matrix and Glass Basalt fibre reinforced polymer composite with epoxy-Graphene composite matrix were fabricated to find mechanical properties. Graphene is taken 2 wt%. The objective of the project work is to fabricate and investigate the mechanical properties when fillers such as Graphene Nanoparticles are used. To find the effect of these nanoparticles on the mechanical properties and study the fabricated nanocomposites under tension, compression, and flexural loads also a detailed analysis of failure by using Scanning electron microscope (SEM). It is expected to offer a nanocomposites composite which is reliable. The testing specimens are tested as per ASTM standards. The test result revealed that incorporation of graphene nanofiller in epoxy resin significantly increase the Mechanical properties of Glass basalt fibre reinforced polymer composite. For Glass Basalt fibre reinforced polymer composite Tensile strength is increase by 21.95%, compressive strength is increase by 7.24% and Flexural strength is increase by 71.59% respectively due to addition of Graphene Nanofiller.
