Agricultural activity is largely dependent on the heath of soil which to a large extent is driven by availability of water content in the soil of any given region. Simply defined, water content in soil can be termed , ‘Soil Moisture’. The extent of vegetation , crops and yield largely determined by the moisture content of the soil. In the normal course, the water content of soil is increased due to rainfall. Most of the farmers depending upon the type increases the moisture content with the help of irrigation facilities. The present study has been conducted with the objective of highlighting the importance of soil moisture and simple ways of measuring the same.
