Title

“The Contribution of Women Entrepreneurs to Sustainable Entrepreneurship”

Abstract

The role of women in building a carbon footprint free sustainable planet cannot be undermined nor neglected at any level. Right from their role as a home maker to leading entrepreneurs their attitude and contribution to sustainability is immensely important. Right from construction to cosmetics, women entrepreneurs are leading the way in sustainable business practices with aplomb. Gendered biases creep in while strategizing and must also be kept in mind by the policy makers in implementing green actions. Sustainability as a necessity has attracted a lot of importance and attention than it did a few decades ago. As the effects of climate change become more and more noticeable globally with rising temperature levels, gradual extinction of flora and fauna, depleting ground water levels etc., being sustainable becomes much more important than it ever was. Women play the role of natural choice makers in their households since generations and normally decide the type of products and services used. Right from toys to detergents to eatables, they want these products to be safe and eco-friendly, not causing harm to their family and to the society at large. Today, as women get empowered in every domain, many of them have brought this thought process to their businesses as well. The paper mainly attempts to analyze whether women entrepreneurs show a greater inclination to green business practices and will be instrumental in achieving sustainable development goals in future.
