Authors

Abstract

Many authorities are considering incorporating the concept of smart cities in their cities to reach the requisite degree of sustainability and improve living standards. Society has been revolutionized by the capacity to process vast quantities of data and derives valuable information. One of the most promising research developments of the decade, this phenomenon, called Big Data, draws attention from every segment of the business and society and has implications for many industries, like the building and transportation industries. Big Data refers to complicated and broad collections of data that need to be processed and analyzed to discover useful data that can help corporations and organizations. Volume, variety, and velocity are the three "V"s defining characteristics of big data. Big data is used by evolving markets, organizations, and relationships between individuals to establish a new type of meaning in life, work, research, and business, where hidden meaning can be exposed. Big Data analytics study provides vast opportunities in many application fields to use evidence in making decisions. In this paper, we reflect on the fundamental state of Big Data integration in the construction industry and assess such technology's potential scope in the different domain-specific sub-areas of the construction sector. It also reports on the results of a systematic analysis of published papers addressing the principles and usefulness of Big Data in the transport sector. In addition to possible pitfalls associated with big data implementation, we also suggest transparent concerns and directions for future work.
