The purpose of industrialization is to grow a country’s economy. However, in this process of growth of economy many negative factors of industrialization are neglected and a major negative factor among many others is environmental pollution due to the by-products and waste materials generated in the process. As the core of industrialization is raw materials and many of the industries uses non-renewable raw materials. Due to this the generation of non-renewable waste materials and by products is being stockpiled day by day. Copper slag is one such a waste material. Copper slag is obtained by the smelting of the copper ore in the blast furnace at very high temperatures. Black cotton soil or expansive soils are a huge problem worldwide. Due to its properties of swelling and shrinking it is considered as a natural hazard and can cause serious damages to the structures. But these hazards can be avoided if the soil is treated and stabilize properly. Therefore the purpose of this research is to stabilize the black cotton soil using copper slag and small quantities of fly ash as a binding material between the slag and the soil.
