Title

STRUCTURAL ASPECTS OF SHORIGAL AREA OF SHOLAYAR RESERVE FOREST, SOUTHERN WESTERN GHATS OF INDIA

Abstract

Trees are dominant species of a forest ecosystem. For proper implementation of biodiversity conservation strategies it is necessary to understand the diversity and distribution pattern of tree species. This study deals with the tree species diversity of Shorigal area of Sholayar reserve forest, Southern western Ghats of India. During the present ecological study 46 species of 38 genera and 24 families (Angiosperms) were observed in the study area. A total of 626 individuals were documented during the field study.
