Title

Study of Anti-bacterial Activities of dihydrazide- dihydrazone Derivatives of Adamantly Moiety Containing Nitro Group

Abstract

In this study, di methyl 1, 3-adamantane-di-carboxylate (2) was initially prepared by esterification of 1, 3-adamantane-di-carboxylic acid (1) with methanol under the catalytic action of 98% H2SO4. Ester was then reacted with hydrazine hydrate to yield corresponding adamantane dihydrazide (3). Subsequently, adamantane dihydrazide compound was condensed with aromatic aldehydes and ketones (4) to yield the corresponding dihydrazide-dihydrazones (5). The structure confirmation of dihydrazide-dihydrazones was done by FTIR, H-NMR, and elemental analysis. This research paper is focused on the antibacterial activities of dihydrazide-dihydrazone derivatives containing adamantane moiety. The chemical structure of dihydrazide-dihydrazone derivatives containing adamantane moiety presented in this research paper are the active derivatives that exhibit antibacterial activities. A biological assay of the prepared compounds was performed on Staphylococcus aureus. Among them, the compounds containing the nitro group showed the most pronounced effect as antibacterial agents.
