Title

ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE PROPERTIES USING KOTA STONE WASTE AND COW DUNG ASH FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

This study is based on experimental research work which involves the partial replacement of cement by cow dung ash (5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 % ) & coarse aggregates by kota stone waste (8,10,12,14,16%) to produce green concrete for sustainable development. Two grades of concrete M25, M30 were studied. Various tests were performed on 6 mix designation for each grade of concrete for following properties: fresh concrete properties (slump test, compaction factor test) and hardened concrete properties (compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength). Design mixes are designated as CONVENTIONAL, A5KS8, A7.5KS10, A10KS12, A12.5KS14, A15KS16 where ‘A’ represent percentage of cow dung ash and ‘KS’ represent percentage of Kota stone aggregate as replacement of cement and coarse aggregate respectively. The compressive strength of M25 and M30 with conventional mix has been obtained as 33.0 and 39.5 N/mm2 respectively after 28 days. For the designed mix A10KS12, compressive strength of M25 is 31.8MPa which exceeds mean target strength 31.6 MPa. For M30 design mix the highest compressive strength is 38.7 MPawhich is achieved for design mix A7.5KS10. The results indicate that for M25 and M30 the partial replacement optimum doses are A10KS12, A7.5KS10 respectively. The materials like cow dung and Kota stone waste are cheaper, eco-friendly and durable and thus helps in sustainable development.
