Understanding the issues within the urban renewal strategy of Dharavi
Abstract
Slum redevelopment is a global issue that primarily developing, and underdeveloped countries face. As one of the cases, Dharavi Slum in Mumbai took the world’s attention for a long time. Even after multiple proposals and attempts made by the government, the conditions didn’t get any better. This paper aims to understand the key weaknesses and urban project objectives of the latest Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) in 2004. Take an example of a successfully finished redevelopment project from another country with a similar situation.
