The increasing integration of economies and societies around the world has been one of the most talked about topics in international economics over the past few decates. Rapid growth and poverty reduction in China, India, and other countries that were poor 20 years ago are a positive aspect of liberalization. India opened up its economy in the early 1990s after a foreign exchange crisis brought the economy close to defaulting on its debt. The new policy regime moves towards a radically more open and market-oriented economy. This article explores the outlines of the ongoing processes of globalization, liberalization, and privatization (LPG). In this article, an in-depth look at the impact of LPG on the Indian economy is given. It also comments on the impact of LPG on India.
