Title

Architecture based IIR Filter Design and Performance evaluation for DSP APP

Abstract

Arelativelyrecentinnovationinthedomainofdigitalfilteringhasbeenthe introductionofsignalprocessingapplicationswitheffectivepowerutilization.Noscope towardstheeffectiveandefficientarchitecturerealizationwithexistingpartofliterature, andhenceinvestigationismadeandisconfinedwithcascadeformoffilterdesign.Inthis project,architecturesarerealizedbasedoncommonsetofspecificationstoarriveatthe highperformancerecursivefilterforlowpowerapplicationsusingXilinxSystemGenerator. InfiniteImpulseResponse(HR)filterscanberealizedinmanyformsthoseareDirectform-I, Directform-II,Cascade,parallelform.Allthesestructuresprovideaspaceforselectionof anappropriatearchitectureforreductionofpowerconsumptionandimprovementinspeed ofdigitalfilters.Inthisparticularwork,a5thorderlowpassHRfilterisrealizedinDirect form-I,Directform-II,Cascadeform (Directform-I/Directform-II)asanexampleofthe methodologyinaXilinxFPGAdevice.Alsocorrespondingpoweranalysiswasperformed andfinallyconcludedthatcascade(Directform-I)realizationisthebesttechniqueto implementhigherorderHRfilterswhenpowerisamainconstraint,cascade(Directform-II) techniqueisbestwithareaandspeedasconstraints.
