Title

Profitability of Irrigated Agriculture: A Case Study of Paddy Cultivation in Barpeta District, Assam

Abstract

This study investigates the profitability of irrigated agriculture as compared to rain-fed agriculture by considering a development block of Assam as case study. The study reveals that there is urgent need of creation irrigation potentiality in the state as well as its utilization. The study shows that the use of irrigation in the agriculture increases production but it is less profitable as compared to non-irrigated agriculture. However, use of irrigation has positive impact on employ ability and production.
