Title

“Nutritional status of children under five years of age at madrasi colony, tyagi road, dehradun uttarakhand, india”

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is a severe public health issue in developing nations, and it is sometimes referred to as a "silent emergency." Low birth weight, insufficient food supplies, the prevalence of infectious disease and improper child's breast feeding cases are some of the factors that may explain the cause of such widespread malnutrition. Malnutrition is a word that encompasses both under and over nutrition. Objective: The goal of the study is to determine the nutritional status of children aged one to five year [1-5] in Madrasi colony, Tyagi road, Dehradun. Methodology: A non-experimental descriptive research design with Purposive sampling technique was chosen for this study. Data was gathered from 50 parents as well as from children in Dehradun. The interview method was employed as a tool. The instrument that was created was an interview schedule with a structured questionnaire that was created in accordance with the study's objectives. Anthropometric assessment is also done for subjects. Result: The majority of the samples who resided in urban slum areas (50 percent) had poor nutrition status, 18 percent had average nutrition status, and 32 percent had good nutrition status, according to the study's findings. It was also shown that maternal education was linked to child malnutrition. Conclusion. This data demonstrates that maternal education has a substantial impact on a child's nutritional status under the age of five, as well as the fact that malnutrition is particularly common in urban slum populations.
