Title

Computation of structural, electronic and optical properties of hybrid perovskite 𝐢𝐻3𝐢𝐻2𝑁𝐻3πΊπ‘’π΅π‘Ÿ3

Abstract

As the requirement of renewable energy is increasing, the efficiency of solar cell is needed to be increased. Hybrid perovskites are the materials which can be used to enhance the efficiency of solar cells due to their high power conversion efficiency. The researchers have found the properties of some lead based hybrid perovskites to be optimal for a PV material. Since the lead is toxic, the researchers are trying to find its alternatives. In this work, Ethyl-ammonium germanium bromide (𝐢𝐻3𝐢𝐻2𝑁𝐻3πΊπ‘’π΅π‘Ÿ3) is studied and its structural, electronic and optical properties are obtained using FP-LAPW method implemented in the Wien2k code. The material absorption coefficient is found to be greater than the required minimum 104π‘π‘šβˆ’1 and bandgap is direct band gap of 1.02 eV. The observed material has another advantage that it is lead (Pb) free. thus it is an eco-friendly and non-toxic material.
