Abstract
Sorting is the process of arranging elements either in ascending order or descending order. We often fail to understand the core idea of a particular algorithm because we are unable to visualise how they work. Visualisation can motivate the students to learn and understand easily without any difficulty. This paper describes ViSA, a tool for the visualization of sorting algorithms. ViSA is an easy-to-setup and fully automatic visualization system with step-by-step explanations and comparison of sorting algorithms. Design principles and technical structure of the visualization system as well as its practical implications and educational benefits are presented and discussed.
