Diabetic distress is the major problem associated with diabetics which is making patients losing their self-confidence and positive attitude towards life. Proper counselling, continuous interaction, effective therapy by the clinical pharmacists could improve patients quality of life, diabetes causative and medication adherence. High blood glucose levels are symptomatic of diabetes mellitus as a consequence of inadequate pancreatic insulin secretion or poor insulin-directed mobilization of glucose by target cells. Type2 diabetes is a serious and common chronic disease resulting from a complex inheritance- environment interaction along with other risk factors such as obesity and sedentary lifestyle. Various herbal drugs have been also proved effective due to their beneficial contents in treatment of diabetes. This article focuses on the causes, types, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes.
